The City of Scranton's first dog park has opened at Connell Park in the city's South Side. The park was built with a grant and features both a large and small dog section, watering station (soon to come), and a beautiful landscape. Connell Park Dog Park Rules- please follow at all times.
No attendant on duty- Users of the dog park do so at their own risk. The City of Scranton and the Friends of the Scranton Dog Park Association shall not be liable for any injuries to dogs, their owners/handlers, or others that use the dog park.
This area is for dogs and their owners/handlers only. Dog owners are 100% percent responsible for any injuries inflicted by their dog(s) and are legally and financially responsible for their dogs’ behavior. Prevent injuries by supervising your dog closely at all times.
Dog park hours: 7:00 a.m. am until sunset daily.
No animals other than dogs are permitted in the dog park.
No dogs under 4 months of age shall be permitted in the dog park area.
Children under 12 must be closely supervised at all times by an adult. It is strongly urged that young children not be brought to the dog park for their own safety.
No more than three beings (dogs and/or children) allowed per handler.
All dogs must be current on vaccinations and be City-licensed. Dogs must wear a collar with visible identification and dog license.
All dogs must be spayed or neutered.
Female dogs in heat are prohibited from the dog park area.
Sick or injured dogs are not permitted in the dog park.
No dog over 30 pounds permitted in the small dog area.
DOG OWNERS ARE SOLELY LIABLE FOR INJURIES OR DAMAGE CAUSED BY THEIR DOGS. Owners/handlers must ensure that their dogs do not escape the fenced area.
Dog owners must be in the park and within view and voice control of their dogs at all times.
Dogs must be leashed and under control by their owners/handlers at all times outside the fenced dog park.
Dogs must be leashed upon entering and exiting the park.
Aggressive dogs are prohibited. Dogs exhibiting aggressive behavior must be removed from the dog park immediately without debate.
Dogs barking excessively must be removed.
Dog waste must be cleaned up by dog owners and placed in proper receptacles.
Owners/handlers must stop their dogs from digging and immediately fill any holes that are dug.
No food or treats (human or dog), alcoholic beverages, strollers, bicycles, or toys allowed in the dog park.
Smoking and eating are not permitted inside the dog park area. Cigarette butts and food wrappers are tempting and unhealthy for dogs.
